On The Memory Lane

The dog is still sitting there,
Where it used to sit –
On the left side,
On the signboard of that shop;
With the same group of plants,
Standing by the road,
Which passes by!

That Chaiwali mousey
Still pours her garam chai
From the same aluminum kettle,
Steam rising high
In the same old-fashioned way!
The road has fattened –
By a lane only,
But the width of the crowd
Is still the same;
Which gathers in the evening
To –
Smoke and chew,
The worries of the day;
To –
Forget the challenges of life,
By looking into her eyes!

The Chat, Panipuri and Fast Food stalls
Now have a new –
Darjeeling Momo by their side!
The road, the evening,
the aroma of hot foods and the crowd –
May be,
They have forgotten about us;
But memory……
does have room –
for each one of us!
