They were always there.
Surrounding her,
shrouding her.
Hurting her, hitting her.
The intense and piercing gaze of some,
that cut her soft heart into
thousands and thousands of pieces!
The hurtful words of some
that made her innocent heart bleed!
The questions of contempt and loathing,
that cornered her,
pushed her into darkness!
The eyes that looked at her
with sympathy, pity
or sheer indifference.
Those words, those looks
and those gazes belittled her,
made her doubt about her existence.
They asked, from where had she come?
Who is her father and
Why doesn't she look like her mother?
They even ridiculed her.
Raised questions about the legitimacy
of her being there with them,
those who are so called
respected persons of society!
Everytime she faced such questions,
was surrounded by such cruelty,
was pierced by those intense gazes;
Her heart broke into pieces.
Her eyes welled up with tears.
In every such moments she felt helpless,
unable to answer anything.
But one day she gathered all her courage.
Went to her mother.
Keeping her head on her lap,
that little girl asked her mother,
"From where have I come mama?
From where did you bring me?
Weren't I born from you?"
Her mother caressed her affectionately.
Taking her little girl in her arms,
said: "My sweet little princess;
You are my daughter.
Your mama's daughter.
My earnest desires gave birth to you.
You are the fulfillment of my emotions.
You are the sweetest dream of mine,
that has filled my world with love.
You are my child.
You are born from my heart…
